Munich – Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique has stated that the team aims to “keep conquering” after their victory in the Champions League final, and that the FIFA Club World Cup is the “icing on the cake.” PSG secured their first Champions League title with a resounding 5-0 victory over Inter Milan. Désiré Doué (2), Achraf Hakimi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Senny Mayulu’s goals sealed PSG’s victory, making them the second French club, after Olympique de Marseille in 1993, to be crowned champions of Europe.

PSG will participate in the first Club World Cup in the United States this summer, facing Atlético de Madrid in Pasadena, California, on June 15 in their first match. Enrique, former Barcelona coach, has urged his team to keep winning.

On my first day at PSG, I had my first press conference and said that my ultimate goal as a coach was to fill the trophy cabinet. The only one missing was the Champions League, but here we are.

The coach added: “We’ve ticked that box now, but we are ambitious and we will continue to conquer.”

The Club World Cup is an incredible competition, it is not yet the same as the Champions League, but it will become something that all the best teams in the world will want to win.

Enrique concluded: “We want to finish the season in style and that would be the icing on the cake, and our fifth trophy this season, if we achieve it.”

Luis Enrique ganó la Liga de Campeones por segunda vez como entrenador, después de haberla ganado previamente con el Barcelona.

Despite the victory, Enrique acknowledged the difficulty that Inter Milan posed to PSG and admitted that his team was “lucky” to capitalize on the opportunities.

Enrique commented: “There was so much tension before the match that I really don’t know what to think. I don’t know if we can call the performance a masterpiece, but we had a great start and my team was exceptional.” He concluded by saying: “There was a lot of pressure from Inter and we were very lucky with our goals because every time we had opportunities, we put them in the net. In the end, we controlled the match. Our fans showed tonight how intense they are, they were our 12th player and my team reflected their passion.”
