Thomas Partey Booed in London Amidst Accusations

The Villarreal midfielder, Thomas Partey, was booed by Tottenham Hotspur fans during his return to London for a Champions League match. This encounter took place the night before his court appearance due to rape charges. The player, 32, and former Arsenal midfielder, started the match on the bench, just hours before his expected presentation at London’s Old Bailey on Wednesday. In July, Partey was accused of five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. Partey came on as a substitute in the 78th minute of the match. Tottenham fans immediately began to boo him and continued to do so every time he was involved in the game. Tottenham took the victory with a score of 1-0.

Thomas Partey came on as a substitute in the 78th minute of Villarreal’s Champions League defeat to Tottenham. The alleged offenses, related to three women, occurred between 2021 and 2022, when Partey played for Arsenal. Partey was released on bail at a court appearance in London on August 5. Two days later, Villarreal announced his signing. Partey’s lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, previously stated that her client “denies all charges against him” and that he looks forward to “the opportunity to clear his name.” The police reported that the investigation was opened in February 2022, after receiving a report of rape.
