Mitchell, who joined Orient this summer, made an unusual decision in professional football: to negotiate his contract without the help of an agent. In the podcast “From My Left”, the player explained how ChatGPT became his virtual advisor.

They [Leyton Orient] sent me an offer, and I started using ChatGPT, asking it how to negotiate a deal and what to say.

The footballer shared details on how ChatGPT guided him on key aspects, such as the cost of living in London and his family’s needs. Although he considered that he deserved a higher salary, he preferred to avoid direct confrontations. In addition, he highlighted that, by not having to pay a commission to an agent, he was able to negotiate a more favorable signing bonus. Mitchell also took the opportunity to express his opinion on football agents, pointing out the differences between them and the options available to players in lower leagues.
  • Agents working for agencies with a fixed salary.
  • Agents from large agencies focused on young prospects.
  • Independent agents with a strong economic motivation.
The player, with experience in England’s youth teams and in Jamaica’s preliminary squad for the 2025 Gold Cup, has played eight matches for Leyton Orient this season, although he has yet to score his first goal for the club.
