Inter Miami delegation member suspended from Leagues Cup
The Leagues Cup disciplinary committee has announced a sanction for a member of the Inter Miami delegation. The suspension extends to all technical areas for the remainder of the tournament, following an incident that occurred in the match against Atlas last Wednesday at Chase Stadium. According to sources, the suspended individual is Yassine Cheuko, Lionel Messi’s bodyguard.The statement adds that, in accordance with the regulations of the Leagues Cup 2025 tournament, the disciplinary committee has suspended the person involved from all technical areas for the remainder of the tournament and has issued an undisclosed fine to Inter Miami CF. The bodyguard entered the field after the match to intervene in a discussion between players from both teams, coming into contact with individuals from Atlas. Atlas defender Matheus Doria addressed the situation during a press conference on Friday, emphasizing that Cheuko is not allowed to be on the field in matters between players.“After the July 30 match between Inter Miami CF and Club Atlas, a member of the Inter Miami club delegation exhibited inappropriate conduct by entering restricted areas without the official event credential,” the disciplinary committee announced in a statement.

Doria added that the situation has already been observed by the board and those responsible for the Leagues Cup, who will take the necessary measures. Doria emphasized that the safety of the players is paramount, but that other intrusions will not be tolerated. Previously, Cheuko had already been banned by Inter Miami from being in the playing area during Major League Soccer matches, although he remained part of the club’s security team.“We already know that our directive works very well and will take care of the matter. I understand that Messi’s bodyguard is there to protect Messi from a possible entry by a fan, I don’t know, but among players, he doesn’t have that permission,” said Doria.
