Messi Suffers Injury in Leagues Cup Match

The Argentinian star Lionel Messi was forced to leave the field during the Leagues Cup match between Inter Miami and Club Necaxa. The injury occurred in the 11th minute of the match, forcing the player to go directly to the locker room at Chase Stadium. Messi suffered a collision with Necaxa players Raúl Sánchez and Alexis Peña while attempting a play inside the area. After the collision, the Inter Miami captain fell to the ground, visibly frustrated. Despite trying to continue in the game for a few minutes, Messi finally requested medical assistance and had to be substituted. The team will be without their captain for the rest of the match against Necaxa. Federico Redondo came on in his place. Before Saturday night’s match, Messi had participated in 30 matches with Inter Miami in 2025, including the Concacaf Champions Cup, the Club World Cup, the Leagues Cup, and the Major League Soccer regular season. In MLS, the player has recorded 18 goals and nine assists with the team.
