Messi returns with a brace and leads Inter Miami to the Leagues Cup final

Lionel Messi once again demonstrated his worth by scoring two crucial goals in Inter Miami’s victory over Orlando City in the Leagues Cup semi-final, with a final score of 3-1. The Argentine star, who was returning from an injury, led his team to the tournament final. Messi, with his characteristic talent, transformed a penalty in the 77th minute and later added another goal in the 88th minute, after a notable combination with Jordi Alba. This performance allowed Inter Miami to come back and secure their place in the final.

I wanted to be here. When I came back against Galaxy I felt some discomfort, I didn’t feel comfortable, but I wanted to play the match. It was really important to be here because it’s a difficult opponent, they had beaten us in the two matches we played against them this year. In the first half I played with a little fear, but then I felt a little more free.

The Argentinian forward had been dealing with a muscle injury in his right leg, which limited his participation in some matches. His return against Orlando City was fundamental for the team. Inter Miami will face Seattle Sounders in the Leagues Cup final on Sunday, after the latter defeated LA Galaxy in the other semi-final. This will be the second time Inter Miami reaches the final in two years, after winning the tournament in 2023.
