Beth Mead Wishes Miedema Success at Euro 2025… Except Against England
English forward Beth Mead expressed her wish for her partner, Vivianne Miedema, to perform well in the 2025 European Championship. However, this goodwill comes with a condition: that it not be in the group stage match where England and the Netherlands face each other on July 9th. Miedema, currently at Manchester City and the all-time top scorer in the Women’s Super League, and Mead began their relationship while they were teammates at Arsenal. Mead commented that she felt it was inevitable that England and the Netherlands would be drawn in the same group in the tournament to be held in Switzerland.
The footballer added that, despite their competitiveness, both are excited about the tournament. “We keep in touch, but when our matches get closer, we don’t talk about football at all. Obviously, we want the other to do well, but not when we face each other,” Mead explained. England will begin its participation in the European Championship against France on July 5, while the Netherlands will play against Wales.When the draw was made, we both looked at each other and said ‘of course this was going to happen’.
