Mbappé: Lightning Hat-trick in the Champions League

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé starred in a historic moment by scoring the second-fastest hat-trick in Champions League history. He achieved it in less than seven minutes during the match against Olympiacos on Wednesday. With a time of 6 minutes and 42 seconds, Mbappé’s feat is only surpassed by Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, who achieved his hat-trick in 30 seconds less against Rangers in October 2022. Real Madrid was losing 1-0 in Greece when Mbappé took control of the match in a spectacular way.

He tied the score in the 22nd minute, scoring with a low shot from the edge of the area after a one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Less than two minutes later, his second goal arrived. The French striker rose powerfully in the area to head in a cross from Arda Güler. And quickly, the third. Mbappé took advantage of another ball filtered over the Olympiacos defense, this time from Eduardo Camavinga, and again finished with ease. This was Mbappé’s second hat-trick in the Champions League this season, after scoring three goals against Kairat Almaty in September. He already has five in total, placing him in fourth place historically. Mbappé, with this performance, solidifies his position in fifth place on the list of all-time top scorers in the Champions League and is only eight goals away from equaling Real Madrid legend Raúl González in fourth place. The former Paris Saint-Germain striker arrived at Wednesday’s match without having scored in his last three games with Madrid, in which the team did not achieve victory.
