Kylian Mbappé continues to make his mark at Real Madrid, setting a new goal record in his debut season with the club. The French striker scored two goals in the vibrant Clásico match against Barcelona on Sunday.

With these two goals, Mbappé reached the figure of 38 goals in all competitions during the 2024-25 season, surpassing the previous record of Ivan Zamorano, who scored 37 goals in the 1992-93 season.

Mbappé opened the scoring in the LaLiga match at Montjuïc with a penalty in the fifth minute, and then extended the lead for the visiting team in the 14th minute.

Despite some initial criticism of his performance, Mbappé has maintained a consistent goal-scoring record throughout the season, including outstanding performances in three of the four Clásicos against Barça.

Last month, the French international surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo’s mark of 33 goals, set in the 2009-10 season, after scoring in Madrid’s 3-2 defeat in the Copa del Rey final.

His goal in the Spanish Super Cup final in January was not enough to prevent the 5-2 defeat against Barcelona.

Mbappé stated at the beginning of the season that his goals would be “in vain” if Real Madrid did not achieve important titles.

The team won the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup this season, but lost the Super Cup and Copa del Rey finals, and was eliminated from the Champions League in the quarter-finals.
