Kylian Mbappé has defended Lamine Yamal, asking that he be left alone and describing the young Barcelona and Spanish national team footballer as a “great talent”. Lamine, who recently won the Kopa Trophy for the best under-21 player in the world for the second year in a row, has been the subject of scrutiny in his private life. Furthermore, a dispute has arisen between Barcelona and the national team regarding his physical condition. The winger was initially called up for the Spanish national team during this international break, but was later withdrawn by his club.

You can see that Lamine has a passion for football and that’s the only thing he shouldn’t lose.

Mbappé, in an interview that will be broadcast in its entirety on Movistar, added: “The rest is just his life. People talk about his personal life, but I think people should leave him alone.” Lamine has scored two goals and provided three assists for Barça in LaLiga so far this season, in his third season as a regular starter, after debuting in LaLiga in 2023 at just 15 years old. Mbappé was also a precocious talent, first playing in Ligue 1 for Monaco at the age of 16. Mbappé highlighted: “He’s a great footballer, but in life he’s an 18-year-old kid. At 18, everyone makes mistakes. He will live his life. We should only look at what he does on the field. The rest is not important, as long as it’s nothing serious. He is a player with great talent.” Mbappé is currently concentrated with the French national team, which plays against Azerbaijan on Friday. However, he suffered a slight ankle sprain in Real Madrid’s victory over Villarreal last Saturday.
