Mbappé Defends Lamine Yamal: “Leave Him Alone”

Kylian Mbappé has spoken out in defense of Lamine Yamal, asking critics to “leave him alone” and describing the young talent of Barcelona and the Spanish national team as a “great player.” Lamine, who recently won the Kopa Trophy for the best under-21 player in the world for the second year in a row, has been the subject of scrutiny in his private life. Furthermore, there have been tensions between Barcelona and the national team regarding his physical condition. The forward was initially called up for the Spanish national team during this international break, but was later withdrawn by his club.

You can see that Lamine has a passion for football and that’s the only thing he shouldn’t lose.

In an interview with Jorge Valdano that will be broadcast on Movistar on Sunday, Mbappé emphasized the importance of separating the player’s personal life from his performance on the field.

People talk about their personal lives, but I think they should leave it alone.

Lamine has scored two goals and provided three assists for Barcelona in LaLiga so far this season, in his third season as a starter, debuting in LaLiga in 2023 at just 15 years old. Mbappé, who debuted in Ligue 1 with Monaco at 16, was also a precocious talent. Regarding Yamal’s current situation, Mbappé highlighted:

He’s a great football player, but in life he’s an 18-year-old kid. At 18 everyone makes mistakes. He will live his life. We should only look at what he does on the field. The rest is not important, as long as it’s nothing serious. He is a player with great talent.

Mbappé is currently concentrated with the French national team, which will play against Azerbaijan on Friday.
