Mbappé: Cristiano Ronaldo, an Idol and a Reference at Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappé has expressed his admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo, whom he considers “the number one” at Real Madrid. The French striker, who arrived at the club with high expectations, has revealed that he seeks advice from the Portuguese star, highlighting his role as a “role model”. Ronaldo, Mbappé’s childhood idol, left an indelible mark on Real Madrid, scoring 450 goals in nine seasons and winning 16 titles, including four Champions League titles. Mbappé, who has already scored 14 goals in his debut season with the white club, seeks to emulate Ronaldo’s success. In his first season, he scored 44 goals, demonstrating his scoring ability and his adaptation to the team.

Kylian Mbappé says he has turned to Cristiano Ronaldo for advice, and that he remains the most respected figure in the club.

“Cristiano has always been a role model for me. I am lucky enough to speak with him, he gives me advice, he has helped me. I think he is still number one in Madrid. He is the point of reference for Real Madrid players, he has done a lot. The fans still dream of Cristiano. But I want to follow my own path,” declared Mbappé.

Despite Mbappé’s outstanding performance, Real Madrid failed to win any major titles last season. Currently, the team leads LaLiga after eight matchdays, with a two-point advantage over Barcelona. Mbappé also spoke about the defeat in the derby against Atlético de Madrid, highlighting the team’s lack of intensity in that match. Regarding the French selection, Mbappé scored in the 3-0 victory over Azerbaijan in the World Cup qualifying phase, but was substituted due to an ankle injury, similar to the one he suffered with Real Madrid. Mbappé considers Spain a serious competitor for the 2026 World Cup. Regarding his relationship with Vinícius Júnior, Mbappé clarified that they maintain a good relationship, and that it has improved over time.
