Mbappé Withdraws Lawsuit for Psychological Harassment against PSG

Kylian Mbappé has withdrawn the lawsuit for moral harassment that he had filed against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) this year, according to a source close to the player. Mbappé’s decision, according to the source, is related to the desire for reconciliation with his former club. The Paris Prosecutor’s Office had opened an investigation following the player’s complaint. The source, who preferred to remain anonymous, indicated that the withdrawal of the lawsuit does not affect the ongoing proceedings before a labor court, where Mbappé is claiming 55 million euros in unpaid wages from PSG.

Mbappé denounced the “lofting” to which he was allegedly subjected at the club.

The term “lofting” is used in France to describe the practice of isolating a player from the main team for sporting, administrative, or disciplinary reasons. Mbappé was not happy with the treatment he received from the Ligue 1 club when he was sidelined before the 2023-24 season, following his decision not to extend his contract. However, relations between Mbappé and PSG president Nasser Al Khelaïfi have improved in recent weeks, according to those close to him.

Kylian Mbappé se unió al Real Madrid el verano pasado en una transferencia gratuita.
Mbappé joined Real Madrid last summer on a free transfer, after scoring a club record of 256 goals in seven years at PSG. He will face his former club in the Club World Cup semi-final. Mbappé’s relationship with PSG ended amid strong tensions, and some fans booed him in his last home game at the Parc des Princes. PSG felt disappointed by Mbappé after offering him the most lucrative contract in the club’s history when he signed a new contract in 2022. Mbappé surprised PSG in June 2023 by informing the club that he would not exercise the option of an extra year. With his contract effectively in its final year, PSG was in the need to sell Mbappé to avoid losing him for free when the contract expired. His career at PSG could have ended that summer amid a tense transfer standoff. After informing the club that he would not extend his contract, Mbappé was excluded from a preseason tour to Japan and South Korea and was forced to train with marginalized players. PSG said they would prefer to sell him rather than let the player leave for free in 2024, but rejected a 300 million euro offer from Saudi team Al Hilal. PSG left Mbappé out of the first league match of that season, but he soon returned to the lineup after conversations.
