Mbappé and Camavinga Back Xabi Alonso After Real Madrid’s Champions League Victory

Kylian Mbappé and Eduardo Camavinga have expressed their unconditional support for Xabi Alonso, following Real Madrid’s victory in the Champions League against Olympiacos. The team achieved an important 4-3 victory in a crucial match. The pressure on Alonso had increased after a streak of three winless games, raising doubts about his relationship with key players in the team. Vinícius Júnior, for example, had been a substitute on four occasions this season. However, Mbappé, who scored four goals, including a hat-trick in seven minutes, highlighted the unity of the team and the coaching staff. During the celebrations at the Karaiskakis stadium, Vinícius was seen embracing Alonso.

I know people talk a lot from the outside. It’s normal for people to talk when you play for Real Madrid. We have to protect the players, the coach and the staff. In the end, we are all in this together.

Kylian Mbappé
Before the match against Olympiacos, Real Madrid had suffered a 1-0 defeat against Liverpool and had drawn 0-0 against Rayo Vallecano and 2-2 against Elche in LaLiga, with Mbappé not scoring.

It was very important to win again. We know that three games without winning is a lot for a team like ours. There are things to improve, of course… I’m not going to say that we are against those people from outside, but we are united, and I know that the fans are with us.

Kylian Mbappé
Camavinga also backed Alonso, stating that the team will do everything possible to help the coach, starting with getting wins.

We will do everything we can to help our coach. And the first way to do that is to win. The last few games haven’t been so good, it’s true, because we haven’t won. We have to focus on the team’s mentality and move forward.

Eduardo Camavinga
The victory left Real Madrid with 12 points, preparing to receive Manchester City on December 10th.

We are happy. Winning this match was fundamental, especially if we want to finish in the top eight. We have to keep going like this, not everything will be perfect, but it’s better to go home with three more points.
