Marquinhos: PSG as an Example for Brazil
Paris Saint-Germain captain Marquinhos believes his club has set a blueprint for the Brazilian national team to achieve success. Following a standout season in which PSG won Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, and the UEFA Champions League, despite the departure of Kylian Mbappé, Marquinhos shares his vision on how to replicate this achievement at the international level.
Marquinhos highlighted the importance of adaptation and team cohesion, recalling how coach Luis Enrique built a successful team with the players available after Mbappé’s departure. The defender emphasized that the new Brazilian national team coach, Carlo Ancelotti, will have to apply the same strategy, getting to know his players and taking advantage of their qualities for the benefit of the team.“When you win a title, you reflect,” commented Marquinhos. “Everyone here knows the PSG players and the national team players, and they are very open to the collective and the team.”

The footballer also highlighted that PSG’s success demonstrated how every detail counts in the pursuit of important titles, such as the World Cup or the Champions League. According to Marquinhos, the key lies in all the players being aligned with the coach’s philosophy and focusing on the collective, which facilitates individual development.

Marquinhos expressed his hope that PSG’s energy and dynamics would be transferred to the Brazilian national team. Although he has had little contact with Ancelotti, the defender highlighted the clarity of the coach’s game plan and trusts that his experience will accelerate the team’s adaptation. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of the energy that Ancelotti brings, especially in a period leading up to the World Cup.
Brazil currently holds the fourth position in the South American qualifiers and has not yet secured its qualification for the World Cup. The main objective is to qualify, and Marquinhos calls for calm and confidence in the coaching staff. The defender stated that the team aims to grow and arrive in good form at the World Cup, always maintaining high ambitions.
Marquinhos concluded by emphasizing the need for a strong and prepared group, similar to PSG’s preparation for the Champions League, to achieve success with the national team.
