Manchester United has informed five players, including Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho, to delay their return to training to give them more time to finalize their departure from the club. Rashford, Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia have expressed to the club’s directors their desire to leave Old Trafford this summer. The team, under the direction of Ruben Amorim, was scheduled to return to Carrington on Monday. However, the five players have been granted an extension to arrange their transfers. They have been told to rejoin at the end of July if their transfers do not materialize. In the meantime, they will have access to medical and rehabilitation facilities, as well as remote support.

Sources close to Amorim indicate that he is looking for a “cohesive team” and “totally focused on competing for the highest honors with Manchester United”. Rashford has also been informed that he will have to give up his number 10 shirt to the new signing, Matheus Cunha. The English striker has not played for United since December and spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa. Antony and Malacia left on loan in January to Real Betis and PSV Eindhoven, respectively. Sancho was on loan at Chelsea for most of the season, but decided not to make his transfer permanent. The United will play their first summer friendly against Leeds United in Stockholm on July 19, before traveling to Chicago for a three-match tour of the United States.
