The Manchester United has submitted a new offer to Brentford for winger Bryan Mbeumo, according to sources close to the club. United would be willing to pay more than £60 million, with a larger proportion upfront, approaching Brentford’s valuation, which is around £65 million for the Cameroonian international. Negotiations between both clubs have intensified in recent weeks, and accelerated over the weekend. Sources indicate that United is aware of Mbeumo’s interest in moving to Old Trafford, despite not having European football next season. Tottenham has also shown interest in Mbeumo. United is confident of reaching an agreement with Brentford on Mbeumo’s valuation, as well as a suitable payment structure, and adding the 25-year-old player to the squad before the pre-season tour of the United States. Meanwhile, United has been offered the opportunity to reactivate their interest in Christopher Nkunku, with the French striker desperately seeking a way out of Chelsea this summer. United showed interest in Nkunku in January. The forward has had a difficult time at Chelsea since his arrival in 2023. Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca was asked about Nkunku in a press conference on Monday.
Christo is with us. He is our player. He’s doing very well in the last four or five days, to be honest. So we can probably also think about giving him some opportunities.
