Manchester United Fans Furious Over Ticket Price Hike

Manchester United fans have expressed their discontent with the club, calling the increases in ticket prices “scandalous”, considering them a “kick in the teeth” for the fans. The announcement of the new prices coincided with the publication of the Premier League schedule for the 2025-26 season. The club plans to introduce a new ticket categorization system for the first time. This new system implies that prices will be higher for matches with greater demand, a measure that, according to the Manchester United Supporters’ Trust (MUST), will increase costs by more than 50%. The club argues that this measure aligns them with other Premier League teams.

“After how last season went, we might have expected the club to reconsider its plans for this new ticket sales model, which will see outrageous price increases for 20,000 match-going fans who buy tickets individually. This is really another kick in the teeth for Manchester United fans”.

The MUST also accused the club of not consulting the fans about these changes. However, United insists that it did engage with the Fan Advisory Board (FAB) and reduced price increases after the talks. Sources indicate that United considers price increases vital to strengthen its delicate financial situation and ensure the team’s competitiveness on the field.

United finished in 15th place in the Premier League last season and lost the Europa League final against Tottenham. The MUST spokesperson added:

“Once again, they have not consulted any representative body of the fans about the details of the decision, and once again they are making decisions against the interests of the fans and, we believe, of the club as a whole.”

Starting next season, United’s Premier League matches will be divided into three categories: A, B, and C. Matches against Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle will be classified as Category A matches, and tickets will be priced between £59 ($79.4) and £97. Ruben Amorim’s team begins the 2025-26 season with Arsenal’s visit to Old Trafford on the opening day.
