AC Milan midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek is set to be called up to the England squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches against Andorra and Serbia.
According to reports, Loftus-Cheek is expected to join Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the two matches after Adam Wharton suffered a groin injury in Crystal Palace’s 3-0 victory over Aston Villa on Sunday.
The 29-year-old player returns to the English national team for the first time in six years, as his last call-up was in March 2019.Ruben Loftus-Cheek will replace Adam Wharton in the England squad.
He has won 10 international matches, the last of which was against the United States in November 2018, but he is known by Tuchel, as he played under his direction at Chelsea.
Wharton limped off during the second half of Palace’s excellent victory at Villa Park and manager Oliver Glasner ruled him out of international duty during his post-match press conference.
The Football Association of England will confirm both Wharton’s absence and Loftus-Cheek’s call-up on Wednesday.

Loftus-Cheek is set to join 23 other players who will report to St George’s Park on Tuesday ahead of Saturday’s clash against Andorra at Villa Park and next week’s crucial match in Belgrade against Serbia.
