Laporta Trusts in Lamine Yamal’s Renewal with Barcelona
The president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, has expressed optimism about the renewal of Lamine Yamal’s contract, highlighting the special treatment that the club has prepared for the young talent.
Yamal, whose current contract with Barça expires in 2026, is a priority for the Catalan club, which seeks to secure his long-term future.
“There is always a bit of suffering involved. It has been discussed, but it is not signed. Lamine is a great player, an extraordinary person, and he is already very mature,” commented Laporta.

The negotiations between both parties have been ongoing for months, and Yamal’s market value continues to grow. The player has been key in the last months of the season, where Barça achieved the treble, winning LaLiga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.
The Spanish international has scored four goals in his last six matches, including impressive goals against Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Espanyol.
Laporta stated that Yamal will receive a salary commensurate with his performance in the team, regardless of his age. “The salary has to be in line with his performances, not his age. We must give him special treatment,” he added.
It has been suggested that the renewal could include the number 10 jersey, which has been used by Ansu Fati since Lionel Messi’s departure in 2021. Currently, Yamal wears the number 19.
Laporta also mentioned that the club is working “urgently” on the extension of Frenkie de Jong’s contract, which expires in 2026, and that conversations have also been held with Raphinha, whose current contract extends until 2027.
