Barcelona prepares a “really exciting” signing

The president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, has announced that the club is working on a “really exciting” signing after finalizing the arrival of goalkeeper Joan García from Espanyol. The sports director, Deco, had expressed the intention of reinforcing the squad with a winger. Among the names being considered are Nico Williams, Luis Díaz, Marcus Rashford and Ivan Perišić, depending on the club’s financial situation. According to reports, Nico Williams, Athletic Club forward, is emerging as Barcelona’s main target, after Deco met with his agent, Felix Tainta.

Barcelona tried to sign Williams last summer, but the deal did not materialize due to registration problems in LaLiga. The 22-year-old player is still available for his release clause, estimated at 58 million euros.

Recently, Liverpool rejected an offer from Barcelona for Luis Díaz. This could accelerate negotiations for Williams.

Deco has also met with Rashford’s agent and brother, Dwaine Maynard. The objective is to evaluate the cost of each possible signing, taking into account LaLiga’s financial restrictions. Laporta has rejected the suggestions of LaLiga’s president, Javier Tebas, regarding the club’s limitations.
