Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany expressed his desire to enjoy a good rest after the recent conquest of the Bundesliga title. The team secured the championship with two matchdays to spare.
In his first season in charge of the club, the Belgian coach admitted that the constant preparation for upcoming matches did not allow him to fully enjoy the small pleasures.
“To sleep, really sleep,” Kompany replied in a club interview when asked what he longed for most after winning the title.

The coach also commented on the constant pressure that high-level soccer implies.
“You constantly have the pressure of the next match. You achieve something, but then you have to start building for the next achievement.”

The domestic season was not easy for Bayern and Kompany, facing tough competition from Bayer Leverkusen, the previous year’s champion, who also eliminated the Bavarians in the German Cup.
In addition, Bayern was eliminated by Inter Milan in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
“Sometimes you have these moments with the family during the year, but your head is somewhere else,” Kompany explained.

Kompany concluded that only after winning can one leave behind some of that pressure.
