Kompany Faces Manchester City Rumors
Vincent Kompany, current coach of Bayern Munich, has downplayed rumors linking him to Manchester City, a team he could manage in the future. These statements were made before Bayern’s DFB Pokal match against Union Berlin. A Kompany was asked about the comments of former president Uli Hoeness, who stated that Pep Guardiola had informed Kompany that he would be his successor as City’s coach.Bayern has shown an outstanding performance this season, although it has experienced some setbacks. One of them was the draw against Union Berlin in the Bundesliga last month. Last week, they suffered their first defeat against Arsenal in the Champions League, but they remain eight points clear at the top of the domestic table after beating St. Pauli 3-1 on Saturday. In that match, Bayern had to resort to late goals to secure the victory, with Luis Díaz and Nicolas Jackson scoring in stoppage time.“I have often said that I am not here to comment on Uli Hoeness’ statements. I have great respect for him, but in football I can’t think that far ahead. My focus is on Bayern and what we can achieve now. I like to live in the world I have in front of me, that takes up all my time. I don’t think about other teams, I only see FC Bayern.”

“We started the season by scoring three goals in the first 20 minutes. It was to be expected that that would change. But going behind is something we are working on, putting a greater focus. I still believe they are normal circumstances, but if it starts to become a pattern, we will have to work to overcome it. But in the last 20 games, we have usually been winning 3-0 after 20 minutes, that has been much more frequent.”

Alphonso Davies is still not recovered from his long-term injury, but Kompany hopes that the rest of his squad will be available.“At the end of the season, we would like to have this pressure again, even more. We want to put on a good performance and win; we are prepared for anything, for 90 minutes or 30 more. It’s a positive pressure. You can always say you want to win everything, but it takes work and attitude. If tomorrow we show how hungry we are for the final, then we will have a good opportunity”.
