Joshua Kimmich has expressed his opinion on which has been the most challenging team that Bayern Munich has faced this season, despite the recent 3-1 defeat against Arsenal in the Champions League.
The German midfielder from Bayern and the German national team surprised everyone by stating that Paris Saint-Germain was the most difficult opponent, even surpassing Arsenal, the team managed by Mikel Arteta.
I think PSG was the most difficult. Especially because of the way they play.
Bayern suffered their first defeat of the season on Wednesday, with goals from Jurriën Timber, Noni Madueke, and Gabriel Martinelli at the Emirates Stadium.
Kimmich argued that PSG, despite having been defeated by Bayern 2-1 earlier this month, represented a greater threat and a more football-focused game.
In contrast, Kimmich described Arsenal as a team that “relies on set pieces”, “loves long balls” and “fights for second balls”.
The German player highlighted that the match against Arsenal was different, focusing more on game management and duels.
Timber’s goal came after a corner from Bukayo Saka, while Martinelli’s third goal was the result of a long ball on a counterattack.
