Juventus Bans Three Fans for Racist Abuse Against Weston McKennie

Juventus has taken strong measures against racism. The club announced this Friday the ban on access to three Parma fans for directing racist insults at American midfielder Weston McKennie during the Serie A match in August. The incident occurred at the season’s opening match in Turin on August 24. McKennie was targeted with racist comments from visiting fans while doing cool-down exercises with his teammates on the field. McKennie, who joined Juventus in 2020, came on as a substitute in the final minutes of the match.

“Thanks to the Allianz Stadium’s state-of-the-art surveillance system, including a multi-focus camera system, the authorities were able to identify and confirm the identities of three visiting fans who, as announced at the end of the match, were responsible for making discriminatory and racist comments towards Juventus player Weston McKennie while he was training on the field after the match,” Juventus said in a statement.

The club has decided to apply the “Codice di Gradimento” against those responsible, in line with its “Code of Conduct”, which prohibits attending football events organized by the club. Previously, the club took similar measures against Roma and Torino supporters after matches in 2023 and 2024, respectively. In 2023, Fiorentina received a suspended partial stadium ban after their fans directed racist and discriminatory chants against McKennie and other Juventus players.
