John Stones Reveals Difficulties and Reflects on Football Retirement
Manchester City and England defender John Stones has openly shared his personal struggles, revealing that he seriously considered retiring from football last season due to injuries. Stones, 31, faced recurring hamstring and foot problems, which prevented him from participating in more than 30 matches across all competitions. These injuries have prevented Stones from playing for England under Thomas Tuchel since the German coach began his job in January, although he could return against Wales or Latvia this month.Stones explained that the frustration of injuries and the difficulty of recovering led him to consider retirement. The defender added that there came a time when he didn’t understand why he kept getting injured, despite his efforts to stay in shape and be professional.Last season was tough for me, to the point of thinking about quitting.
