Simone Inzaghi to Manage Al Hilal on a Two-Year Contract
Saudi Professional League club Al Hilal has confirmed this Wednesday the hiring of Simone Inzaghi as their new coach, signing a two-year contract.
Inzaghi, 51, leaves Inter Milan after the team’s 5-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final. It is rumored that Al Hilal offered him a salary exceeding 20 million euros (22.74 million dollars) per season.
The former Lazio coach led Inter to win the Serie A title last year and was also in charge when the Nerazzurri lost the 2023 Champions League final against Manchester City.Inter finished second in Serie A this season, one point behind champion Napoli.
Inter were on course to achieve a treble until they lost to their archrival AC Milan in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia in April. After also being defeated by Milan in the final of the Supercoppa Italiana in Saudi Arabia in January, Inter failed to win any trophies this season.
Inzaghi’s first task at Al Hilal will be to lead the team in the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, with an opening match against Real Madrid at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on June 18.
