Simone Inzaghi leaves Inter Milan after Champions League final defeat

Inter Milan has confirmed the departure of Simone Inzaghi from the club following the defeat in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain last Saturday, with a score of 5-0.

In a letter addressed to Inter fans published on the club’s website on Tuesday, Inzaghi expressed his farewell after four years of dedication.

“The time has come to say goodbye to this club after four years in which I gave it my all,” wrote Inzaghi.

According to reports, the Saudi Professional League club, Al Hilal, is interested in signing Inzaghi, offering him a contract of more than 20 million euros per season.

Inzaghi led Inter to victory in Serie A last year and was also in charge in the 2023 Champions League final, where the team was defeated by Manchester City.

Simone Inzaghi’s last match in charge of Inter Milan was the defeat in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain.

Inzaghi was in charge of Inter for exactly four years and had one more season left on his contract.

Currently, it has not been confirmed who will lead Inter in the Club World Cup in the United States, which begins on June 14. Inter will begin its participation against Monterrey on June 17, one day before Al Hilal faces Real Madrid.

It is speculated that Inter is interested in Cesc Fàbregas, who led Como to a tenth place in Serie A.

Inter finished the season in second place in Serie A, one point behind the champion, Napoli.

Inter were in the fight for the treble until they lost against AC Milan in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia in April. After also being defeated by Milan in the final of the Supercoppa Italiana in Saudi Arabia in January, Inter failed to win any title this season.

The coaching change at Inter is just one of many coaching moves among the top Italian teams this summer, with changes also at Milan, Roma, and Atalanta, among others.
