Drake Callender Swaps Inter Miami for Charlotte FC

Goalkeeper Drake Callender has been transferred from Inter Miami to Charlotte FC, as confirmed by both clubs this Tuesday. In the operation, Inter Miami will receive $400,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) for 2025 and $350,000 in GAM for 2026. Callender initially joined Inter Miami in December 2019, playing with Inter Miami CF II before debuting and becoming the starting goalkeeper for the first team in 2022.

Drake joins our team with more than three years of experience in MLS and is entering a great stage for a goalkeeper’s development. His experience in MLS and his recent call-ups to the national team make him a key piece to strengthen our core of goalkeepers as we continue to build the strongest team possible for the end of the season, but also with an eye to the future.

In 2022, Callender was a finalist for the league’s Goalkeeper of the Year award. He accumulated 92 appearances in the MLS regular season with the club, but only three of them were in 2025.

Callender began the 2025 season from the bench, after suffering an injury while playing with the United States national team in January, before losing his starting position to Oscar Ustari under the direction of Miami coach Javier Mascherano.
