Erling Haaland Shines with Hat-Trick Despite Penalty Errors

The Manchester City star striker, Erling Haaland, had an outstanding performance with the Norwegian national team, scoring a hat-trick in the 5-0 victory against Israel in a World Cup qualifying match. Despite missing two penalties, Haaland demonstrated his goal-scoring ability and led his team to victory.

The first penalty was saved by Daniel Peretz, but the referee ordered it to be retaken because the goalkeeper moved forward. In the second attempt, Haaland tried a shot to the corner, but Peretz guessed the direction again and saved the ball.

Haaland recovered in the first half, scoring a goal after receiving a pass from Alexander Sørloth. Subsequently, he added two more goals to his personal tally, totaling 12 goals in the UEFA qualifying phase. With this hat-trick, Haaland reached a total of 51 goals with the Norwegian national team, solidifying himself as the country’s all-time top scorer. The striker reached 50 goals in just 46 matches, surpassing figures like Harry Kane, Neymar, Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo in reaching this milestone. The victory keeps Norway undefeated in the qualifying phase, with six wins in six matches. The team leads Group I with a nine-point advantage over Italy. Norway hasn’t participated in a World Cup since 1998. Before the match in Oslo, peaceful pro-Palestinian protests took place. The police formed a line near the stadium, maintaining a safe distance from the protesters. The stadium had an attendance of between 22,000 and 23,000 spectators, with a reduced capacity due to security measures.
