Guardiola Opens the Door to Grealish’s Return to Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has left open the possibility of Jack Grealish’s return to the team. The English player has had a significant impact at Everton, where he is currently playing on loan since August. Grealish, 30 years old, had lost prominence at the Etihad Stadium. Guardiola will not have to devise a strategy to stop him in the next Premier League match, as Grealish cannot play against his home club, but his performance has not gone unnoticed.

“I think he has a contract for one more year with us. The important thing is that he is back. He is a huge influence in Everton’s matches. After what has happened, maybe Manchester City wants him back, but I don’t know. Many things are still going to happen. We’ll see,” Guardiola commented.

The coach highlighted the importance of Grealish playing again and accumulating minutes on the field.

Guardiola also expressed his satisfaction at not having to face Erling Haaland, whom he considers to be at the peak of his career. The forward has scored 21 goals in 12 matches this season, including an impressive performance with the Norway national team. Guardiola joked that he would need to put “four central defenders” to stop Haaland if he were the coach of the opposing team.

“I had the pleasure of facing him when I was in Dortmund and I hope I don’t have to face him again for the rest of my life. He is a first-class player. In world football, there are four, five, six, ten players who make a difference. I think he is one of them. We have him, hopefully for many years, and we are very happy about that,” Guardiola added.

The Spanish coach stated that he believes this is Haaland’s best moment and that his performance is exceptional, not only in terms of goals. Guardiola indicated that, for the moment, he does not feel the need to manage Haaland in a special way and will only intervene if the player is going through a bad moment.
