Griezmann Reaches 200 Goals with Atlético de Madrid in the Champions League

Atlético de Madrid’s star forward, Antoine Griezmann, celebrated a significant milestone by scoring his 200th goal for the club during the 5-1 triumph over Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

Griezmann, who already holds the title of Atlético’s all-time top scorer, reached this memorable figure with a close-range shot after an assist from Julián Álvarez in added time of the first half.

After scoring the goal, Griezmann displayed a jersey with the number 200 and the nickname “Grizi” on the back.

In the 67th minute, a goal by the French striker was disallowed for a handball.

Griezmann became the historic top scorer for Atlético after scoring against Real Madrid in the semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup in January 2024, surpassing Luis Aragonés’ 173 goals. The player is in his tenth season with Atlético.

His first spell at the club was from 2014 to 2019, before joining Barcelona for two seasons with unsatisfactory results. Griezmann returned to Atlético in 2021 with a one-year loan that was subsequently extended.

Recently, Griezmann renewed his contract with Atlético until 2027.
