Thomas Frank Criticizes Tottenham Fans for Booing Vicario

Coach Thomas Frank expressed his disapproval of Tottenham fans for booing Guglielmo Vicario during the 2-1 home defeat to Fulham. Frank, after witnessing Spurs’ third consecutive loss, called the fans’ reaction “unacceptable.” The match marked a harsh setback for Tottenham, who conceded two goals in the first six minutes. The second goal came after a mistake by Vicario, who came out of his goal and inexplicably cleared the ball towards the midfield instead of sending it out of play. The situation generated boos towards Vicario on several occasions, including moments when he touched the ball and during halftime. Mohammed Kudus scored a goal for Tottenham in the 59th minute, but they couldn’t come back to win. Frank watched his team suffer their fourth defeat in six Premier League matches.

Definitely, conceding two goals in six minutes gives us a mountain to climb. I think it’s the classic when you’re in a bad moment or a difficult moment, things go against you. The first one is a deflected shot and the second is a mistake by Vicario. It happens.

Frank criticized the fans’ reaction, stating that booing a player during the match should not be acceptable. He emphasized the importance of unity and support for the team, especially in difficult times.

I didn’t like how the fans reacted to that. They booed him immediately afterwards and also three or four times when he had the ball. For me that is unacceptable.

Vicario, for his part, downplayed the boos, considering them “part of football.” He acknowledged the fans’ right to express their opinions and emphasized the need to remain calm and focus on the game. The match was also special for Marco Silva, who celebrated his 200th match in charge of Fulham with a victory.

A great victory, of course, a great milestone for me and my staff at the football club: 200 matches is a great number in football.
