Hansi Flick: “I Don’t Want Unexpected Departures” at Barcelona

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has made it clear that he does not want any unexpected departures this month, even though the club might be open to offers for several key players. According to sources close to the club, Barcelona would be willing to consider offers for Marc Casadó, Ronald Araújo, Andreas Christensen, and Fermín López. Casado’s situation is particularly delicate, as the midfielder is not the first choice and the sports management is aware of the need to generate savings to comply with LaLiga’s financial rules. The sports management would be looking for financial flexibility for possible reinforcements in January and would consider an offer of around 30 million euros for the Spanish international as a good deal.

However, Flick wants to keep his team intact, including Casadó, who played 36 matches with the first team last season.

I spoke with him, of course, but I don’t think he wants to leave the club. I also want to have him here because it will be a tough season. We need all the players we have now.

López, who started in the first LaLiga match against Mallorca, is another young player who has generated interest this summer, but Flick insists he will stay.

Following the departure of Iñigo Martínez to the Saudi Professional League, Barça has fewer defenders, making it less likely that Araujo or Christensen will leave this month. Meanwhile, midfielder Oriol Romeu is about to terminate his contract with the club, and goalkeeper Iñaki Peña and young full-back Héctor Fort could also leave in the coming days. Romeu’s departure should open the door for Gerard Martín’s registration for Saturday’s match against Levante, with the registrations of Wojciech Szczesny and Roony Bardghji still pending. “I hope Gerard is available for Levante,” Flick said. “I spoke with him, of course. This is my job. We’ll see what happens until tomorrow.”
