Tragedy in the Nations League Final: A Fan Passes Away

The UEFA has confirmed the unfortunate death of a spectator during the Nations League final, in which Portugal defeated Spain this Sunday in Munich. The incident occurred in the final minutes of the match at the Allianz Arena, when the fan fell from the second level of the main stand towards the lower seating area.

Despite the immediate attention of medical services and stadium staff, the fan could not be revived.

There was a medical emergency at the Munich stadium and, despite the best efforts of the medical team, the person sadly passed away at 00:06 (CET).

UEFA statement

UEFA expressed its condolences to the loved ones of the deceased in an official statement.

The Spanish national team coach, Luis de la Fuente, began his post-match press conference with a message of condolence.

I want to express my condolences to the family of the fan who has passed away. That has made us realize what is important in life.
