The National League Cup match between Manchester United Under-21s and Tamworth, scheduled for Wednesday evening, was suspended due to an injury sustained by United midfielder, Sékou Koné. The match, corresponding to Group A and played at the Lamb Ground, was stopped after the 19-year-old Mali youth international fell after a head clash while defending a corner kick.

Sékou Koné has not yet debuted in an official match with the Manchester United first team. Koné received medical attention on the field for approximately 15 minutes. After the end of the first half was whistled, he was taken off on a stretcher. Subsequently, the suspension of the match was announced, with the score tied at 0-0. Manchester United issued a statement on social media informing that Koné was “conscious, stable and communicating with the United medical team.” They added that he had been “taken to hospital as a precautionary measure for further examinations.”

Tamworth’s X account published a statement that said: “Due to the medical situation, we are forced to suspend tonight’s match, details will be revealed in due course. We wish a safe journey to all Man United fans, staff and players. Especially, we wish Sekou Kone a speedy recovery”.
