Dyche and Mancini, candidates to manage Nottingham Forest after Postecoglou’s dismissal

2 Min Read

In a surprising move, Nottingham Forest is looking for its third coach of the season. Following the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou, the club has set its sights on two prominent figures in football to take the reins of the team.

Dyche and Mancini in the Contest

Sean Dyche, former Everton manager, and Roberto Mancini, former Manchester City coach, are the main candidates to fill the vacant position. Sources close to the club indicate that Dyche is the favorite, with conversations already underway, while Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis also considers Mancini a viable option.

The decision comes after the dismissal of Postecoglou, who was only in charge of the team for 39 days. His time at the club resulted in eight winless matches, which led the management to make this drastic decision. The club is seeking a new direction after Postecoglou’s departure. Dyche, with a past at Forest as a player in the lower categories, could bring stability to the team. However, the experience of Mancini, who won the Premier League with Manchester City, is also a factor to consider.

Mancini hasn’t managed in English football since leaving Manchester City in 2013, but he has a distinguished career at clubs like Galatasaray, Inter Milan and Zenit St. Petersburg, as well as his time with the Italian national team, with which he won the Euro 2020. His last experience was as coach of Saudi Arabia, a position he left in October 2024.
