Wayne Rooney to star in Disney+ documentary series

Disney+ has confirmed the production of a documentary series focused on the life of Wayne Rooney, the former footballer and ex-captain of the England national team, and his wife, Coleen. The series, provisionally titled “The Rooneys”, will offer an intimate and exclusive look at the couple’s life, with unseen images and unprecedented access to their day-to-day lives. The production will consist of ten episodes and promises to show Rooney in unknown facets, from his role as a father taking his children to school to the new business projects of Coleen, who was a finalist in “I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here”. Wayne Rooney, who played for teams like Manchester United, Everton, D.C. United and Derby County, and recently managed Plymouth Argyle, a team from which he separated last December. Rooney, England’s second-highest goalscorer in history with 53 goals, has been working as a sports commentator and is a regular member of the Overlap podcast alongside football legends such as Paul Scholes and Gary Neville. Last month, Rooney scored the fastest goal in Soccer Aid history, scoring against his former teammate Edwin van der Sar at Old Trafford. Coleen already participated in a Disney+ documentary series in 2023, titled “Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story”. The announcement of this series was made along with the news of the new version of the British dating series “Blind Date” and a documentary about the parenthood of Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo, stars of “Made in Chelsea”. Additionally, Disney+ recently announced that it will be the new platform for the UEFA Women’s Champions League in Europe for the next five seasons.
