Coutinho Considers Retirement or Playing in MLS

Former Liverpool and Barcelona attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho is considering a move to MLS or retiring from professional football at the age of 33. According to sources close to the player, Coutinho has received an inquiry from the Russian club CSKA Moscow. Coutinho terminated his contract with Vasco de Gama on February 19, citing pressure from fans and mental exhaustion.

The truth is that I am very mentally exhausted. I have always been very reserved, so saying this here is not easy, but I need to be honest. My relationship with Vasco is one of love. And it will continue to be forever.

A source close to the player indicated that it would be surprising if Coutinho accepted an offer from Russian football. The midfielder’s future options are to join an MLS team in the United States or announce his retirement.
