Chelsea secures Ellie Carpenter, Australian star defender

Chelsea has officially announced the signing of Australian defender Ellie Carpenter, coming from Olympique Lyonnais, a renowned French team. The announcement was made by the Women’s Super League (WSL) club. Carpenter, 25, has signed a four-season contract and will reunite with coach Sonia Bompastor, who left Lyon to join the London team last year. This transfer takes place one day after Canadian defender Ashley Lawrence joined Olympique Lyonnais.

I am very excited about this new challenge; it’s a new adventure. I feel it’s the right move for me, and I’m eager to start and give my all for this club. I am very proud to join such a big club, one of the biggest in women’s football.

Carpenter debuted with the Australian national team at 15 years old and became the youngest footballer to participate in the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, at 16 years old. In his five years in France, he won league titles on four occasions and conquered the Champions League twice.

Ellie is a player we have followed for many years. She has a lot of experience for her age and has won numerous titles in her career, including the Champions League. She is an athletic full-back who loves to attack. We are excited to see how she continues to develop and what she will bring to an already talented team.
