Chelsea is in a delicate situation regarding the treatment of its players Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi. Sources close to the club have revealed that they are working closely with the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) to address this situation. Both players are training separately from the first team, after being informed that they are not part of future plans at Stamford Bridge. Sterling, 30, has two years remaining on the five-year contract he signed after arriving from Manchester City in July 2022, in a transfer worth £47.5 million, being the first signing under the club’s new ownership, led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital. Disasi, 27, was signed for £38.5 million from Monaco in August 2023 and has a contract with Chelsea until June 2029. Both players spent last season on loan away from Stamford Bridge. Sterling, who was an England national team winger, played 28 games in all competitions for Arsenal, while Disasi played 10 games for Aston Villa.

Although both Sterling and Disasi were available for transfer this summer, neither of them could finalize a move.

It was learned that both Napoli and Bayern Munich tried to sign Sterling, but the London-born player wanted to stay in the capital to be with his family, and the proposals from both clubs were not suitable at that time. With Sterling and Disasi still at Stamford Bridge after the close of the transfer market on September 1, hopes of returning to Enzo Maresca’s squad have not materialized and the two players have been forced to train separately from the first team.

Chelsea and the PFA are working together to ensure that both players can train properly and also have playing time at the club’s Cobham training ground. Sterling and Disasi have also been assigned designated coaches to ensure they can secure a Chelsea exit when the transfer market reopens in January. The Chelsea and the PFA declined to comment.
