Cazorla extends his legend: Renews with Real Oviedo and returns to LaLiga

Experienced footballer Santi Cazorla has confirmed that he has no plans to retire from professional football. At 40 years old, the midfielder will continue his career in LaLiga next season, after signing a renewal with Real Oviedo. The official announcement was made on Saturday, confirming the contract extension for one more year. Thus, Cazorla will be part of the Oviedo team in its return to the top category of Spanish football, a milestone that had not occurred for 24 years.

Cazorla was a key element in the team that achieved promotion, scoring a crucial goal in the playoff final against Mirandés last month. His last participation in LaLiga was in 2020. After training in the lower categories of Oviedo, Cazorla began his professional career in Villarreal, after Oviedo went through a financial crisis. After his time at Al Sadd of Qatar, he returned to Oviedo in 2023. Throughout his outstanding career, Cazorla has represented the Spanish national team 81 times, being part of the team that won the 2008 and 2012 European Championships.
