Camavinga, out due to injury at Real Madrid

Real Madrid has confirmed that Eduardo Camavinga is suffering from a sprained ankle, which represents a new setback for the team’s midfield ahead of the next LaLiga season. Camavinga’s absence adds to that of Jude Bellingham, who underwent shoulder surgery last month and is expected to be out of action until October. The club has not yet signed any midfielders in this transfer window. Real Madrid will start its 2025-26 season on August 19, receiving Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabéu, with the aim of improving its performance after a season without major titles.

“Following tests carried out on Eduardo Camavinga by Real Madrid’s medical services, he has been diagnosed with a sprain in his right ankle,” the club reported in a brief statement.

Camavinga, 22 years old, has suffered five injuries in the last 12 months, which limited his participation to 19 LaLiga matches last season. The central midfielder position was a problem for Madrid last season, and the options have been further reduced after the departure of Luka Modrić, who joined AC Milan this summer. The club has reinforced other areas in this transfer market, incorporating defenders Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen, and Álvaro Carreras. In addition, winger Franco Mastantuono will join this week upon turning 18.

In the Club World Cup, new coach Xabi Alonso chose to field Arda Güler in midfield alongside Federico Valverde, Aurélien Tchouaméni and Bellingham, in Madrid’s race to the semi-finals.

“With what we have, we can dominate in midfield,” Alonso declared.

It has been reported that Madrid does not plan to make any more signings this summer, unless there are any departures. LaLiga will be broadcast on Disney+ in the UK and Ireland.
