Caleb Williams Invests in Boston Legacy FC of the NWSL

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is joining as an investor in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) expansion team for 2026, the Boston Legacy FC, the club announced on Thursday. Williams, winner of the Heisman Trophy in 2022 as the best college football player, was the number 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

“Women’s sports is a movement, and I admire and respect the work the team and the NWSL continue to do to grow the sport and empower future generations of athletes,” Williams stated.

Through his investment firm, 888 Midas, Williams joins the project. This unique platform is led by athletes and advisors in private equity, venture capital, real estate, and alternative assets. The group of famous investors in the NWSL club includes actress Elizabeth Banks, Olympic gold medalist Aly Raisman, and WNBA star Aliyah Boston. Celtics general manager Brad Stevens and his wife, Tracy, are also investors. Jennifer Epstein, whose family owned the Celtics for a long time, is the controlling owner and co-founder of Boston Legacy FC.

The Boston Legacy FC will begin playing in the NWSL in 2026 along with the expansion team Denver Summit FC, which will bring the league to 16 teams.
  • The team will play its home games at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, in 2026.
  • The team plans to move to White Stadium within the city limits of Boston in 2027. The renovation shared with the city and the Boston Public School was originally scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2026, but suffered several delays.
Williams has thrown eight touchdowns and two interceptions this year for the Bears, who have a 2-2 record so far. He played in 17 games for Chicago as a rookie last year, throwing 20 touchdowns and six interceptions. Boston Legacy also has an athlete advisory board that includes Aliyah Boston, former USWNT players and World Cup winners Kristine Lilly and Sam Mewis, and former WNBA player turned Celtics executive Allison Feaster.
