Aitana Bonmatí Rejoins the Spanish Women’s National Team

The talented midfielder Aitana Bonmatí has rejoined the Spanish women’s national football team. This news comes as a significant boost for the current world champions, just two days before their debut in the Women’s European Championship in Switzerland.

Bonmatí, after being discharged from the hospital after overcoming an episode of viral meningitis, rejoins the national team. The Spanish Football Federation shared images on social media of the Barcelona player arriving at the training camp hotel on Monday night.

Despite her reintegration, it has not yet been defined when she will be fully ready to play. Uncertainty surrounds her participation in the tournament, although her presence in the group is already an incentive.

The winner of the Ballon d’Or in the last two editions missed the friendly against Japan on Friday, where Spain won with a score of 3-1. This match was part of the preparation for the first Group B match against Portugal, scheduled for July 3.

On Sunday, Bonmatí posted a photo from his hospital bed, showing a sign of approval and expressing his desire to return to activity soon.

With 30 goals in 78 appearances for the national team, Bonmatí was a fundamental piece in winning the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
