Montse Tomé Keeps the Door Open for Jenni Hermoso in the Spanish National Team

The coach of the Spanish national team, Montse Tomé, has assured that Jenni Hermoso still has chances of returning to the national team, despite not having been called up for the next UEFA Nations League matches.

Hermoso, currently at Tigres Femenil of Liga MX, has not played for Spain since October 2024 due to a leg muscle injury.

For the upcoming matches against Belgium and England, Tomé has included 12 players who will participate in the Women’s Champions League final between Barcelona and Arsenal.

For us, it’s an ideal scenario: 12 players. Seeing the players at the highest level is good. It will be competitive; they are the two best teams in Europe. It’s a gift to be able to see our players in these contexts.

Montse Tomé

Tomé has stated that the list for this summer’s European Championship is not yet closed and that all players have a chance.

No door is closed to any player. We have shown that since we have been here. Misa Rodríguez and Jenni Hermoso have been with us, and we have decided to include them in the preliminary list. We are looking for the best team.

Jenni Hermoso, a key figure in the 2023 World Cup scandal, is Spain’s all-time leading scorer with 57 goals in 123 matches and has expressed her desire to play for the national team again.

Aitana Bonmatí from Barcelona was included in Spain’s squad for the matches against Belgium and England.

Tomé has indicated that there are 25 players under evaluation and that 23 will be selected for the European Championship. The main focus is on the Nations League.

Spain, leader of Group 3 with nine points, will face Belgium on May 30 and England on June 3.
