Barcelona Confirms Preseason Match in Japan After Resolving Contractual Dispute

Barcelona, the current LaLiga champion, has announced that it will play a pre-season match in Japan, after resolving a contractual dispute with the event promoter. The club had previously canceled this match. The team will travel to Japan to face Vissel Kobe this Sunday.
  • Barcelona cancels the friendly match in Japan citing breach of contract.
  • Barça delays the return to Camp Nou due to permit issues.
According to the club’s statement, “all the problems that forced Barcelona to cancel its participation” in the match two days earlier have been resolved. Barcelona has not revealed the promoter’s name nor offered further details about the dispute. After their time in Japan, Barcelona plans to visit South Korea to play against FC Seoul on July 31 and against Daegu FC on August 4. Like other major clubs, Barcelona, which has struggled with large debts in recent years, takes advantage of the summer to play exhibition matches abroad as a way to generate additional income.
