Azteca Stadium Assures Total Access for Box Owners in the 2026 World Cup

The Azteca Stadium has reached an agreement with FIFA to guarantee luxury box owners full access to their seats during the 2026 World Cup matches in Mexico City, without the need for additional payments. This was confirmed by Félix Aguirre, general manager of the stadium, on Friday.

“We are in a position to announce that we have concluded negotiations and agreements with FIFA. We are in the final stage of small details that will allow us to announce today, ensuring that the holders of boxes and seats have the right to use and enjoy their tickets and access during the World Cup,” Aguirre declared in an interview.

The executive added that the process was long and thanked those involved for their patience, as well as the collaboration of FIFA and ticket holders. Previously, box owners expressed concern about the use of their seats, with one of them even filing a legal complaint with the Federal Consumer Prosecutor’s Office (Profeco). The Association of Box Owners of the Azteca Stadium also threatened legal action if an agreement was not reached with FIFA to allow access to their seats. Roberto Ruano, representative of the box owners association, indicated that they were prepared for a legal battle after several proposed solutions between the stadium and FIFA did not succeed. Aguirre confirmed that the stadium paid FIFA the necessary price to ensure access to the contractual seats of all box owners.

“Yes, [we pay]. Access and use are guaranteed. There will be products that will be offered, but access and use are guaranteed at no cost. No cost, but there are additional products that can be acquired, such as hospitality services,” Aguirre affirmed.
