Arsenal were eliminated from the Champions League semi-finals, after losing to Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG won with a score of 2-1 in Tuesday night’s match, thanks to goals from Fabián Ruiz and Achraf Hakimi, completing a 3-1 aggregate victory and securing their place in the final against Inter Milan in Munich on May 31.

The London team had a promising start in the French capital, but PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma made two outstanding saves against Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard in the first 10 minutes.

Donnarumma also made an excellent save to deny Bukayo Saka a goal, before Vitinha missed a penalty in the 69th minute, following a handball by Miles Lewis-Skelly, sanctioned after VAR review.

Saka finally managed to score in the 76th minute, but it was a consolation goal, as Arsenal failed to reach their second Champions League final and now face a fifth consecutive season without trophies.

100 percent I don’t think there has been a better team [than Arsenal] in the competition, from what I’ve seen, but we’re out. I think we deserved much more in both games. But this competition is about the areas and in both areas normally are the forwards most of the time and the goalkeepers and he was the best player in both games.

Mikel Arteta

After the match, Arteta stated: “I think so, especially over 160 minutes. I say it and they say it because they just told me.”

Midfielder Declan Rice, whose initial header went narrowly wide, lamented that an early goal for Arsenal would have changed the course of the match.

If you score in one of those occasions, probably in the first 15 or 20 minutes, the game changes completely

Arsenal have failed in their last four cup semi-finals (Europa League 2020-21, Carabao Cup 2021-22, Carabao Cup 2024-25, Champions League 2024-25).

Rice added that these setbacks will strengthen them.
