Arsenal Strengthens Defense with Piero Hincapié
Arsenal has finalized the addition of defender Piero Hincapié, coming from Bayer Leverkusen, through a loan agreement. The news was confirmed this Monday by the Premier League club.
The 23-year-old footballer finalized the details of his loan to Arsenal, which includes an option to buy him outright next summer, all on the last day of the transfer market.
The negotiations focused on Hincapié’s release clause, set at 60 million euros, or on an agreement that included the obligation to convert the initial loan into a permanent transfer.
Finally, Arsenal managed to secure the loan with an option to buy, making Hincapié their eighth signing of the summer, after investing more than 300 million euros in new players.
To balance their finances, the Gunners are expected to allow Jakob Kiwior to leave for Porto in a permanent transfer, while Albert Sambi Lokonga has joined Hamburg on loan.
Hamburg and Arsenal also announced Fabio Vieira’s loan this Monday, while Reiss Nelson is set to join Brentford.
Olympique de Marseille hoped to finalize a deal for Oleksandr Zinchenko, but there was no progress in the negotiations until midday on Monday.
